This report lets you compare sets of categorical spending against other sets.
Click on the Beta
tab and then click on the Custom Category Text
link.
The Custom Category Report generates a statement that compares multiple sets of categories against each other. In the examples below we'll be comparing two different rental units.
You can change the # Category Groups
option to compare up to 20 category groups against each other.
In this example we're going to be comparing the expenses for two different rental units. Each rental unit has a parent category with the unit name and each parent has the same sub categories. The Deposits
option will be set to the default, which is to ignore deposits.
Below is a sample of a Custom Category statement generated with the parameters from the screenshot above.
In this example we are changing the Deposits
option to Sum
which will sum any withdrawals and deposits. You'll see the Rent row has data in the resulting statement.

The Report Options
for the Custom Category report are shown and explained below.

Date Range |
Select the start and end dates for the transactions that should be calculated. |
Deposits |
Changing this option affects how deposits are handled. The options are: Ignore - the default option which ignores all deposits and only shows withdrawals. Sum - sums any deposits and withdrawals and shows the result. Only - only shows deposits, ignoring all withdrawal data. |
Accounts |
You can limit the report to a specific account or set of accounts |
# Category Groups |
Select the number of category groups you would like to compare against each other. The values are 1-20. |
You can click the Export to CSV
link below the report to export the report to a CSV file. A CSV file can be opened in any spreadsheet application such as Excel.
